Having spent over 16 years working for the Yorkshire Building Society at it's Head office as a staff development officer and trainer, he decided to follow a passion for driving and became a driving instructor, training and then initially instructing with a well known national driving school, then then setting up his own successful driving school - Steve White Driver Training.
Steve has had a passion for driving from a very early age when his parents got him a blue pedal car in 1975, he vividly remembers counting the years down to when he could begin to learn to drive. He passed his test first time in 1988 at Eccleshill test centre, Bradford.
Over the years, as well as working full time, Steve also worked at most of the regions Radio stations, including Pennine FM (now the Pulse 1), BBC Radio Leeds, Aire FM and was Programme Controller at Sovereign Radio and latterly IT Manager, Broadcast skills trainer and Presenter at BCB 106.6fm. He's also set up and installed radio stations in several schools so that the younger generation can gain valuable skills from the medium.
He switched on the Christmas lights in Batley in 1995 with Tricia Penrose (Gina from Heartbeat) and hosted many "Summer Roadshows" around West Yorkshire in the late 90's and early 2000's for Bradford council. His radio career saw him working with lots of well known people from Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones to Comic legends Cannon and Ball, the Krankies and even Her Majesty the Queen!. Steve can still be heard on air on local radio around Bradford and Leeds occasionally. He has a VAST music colection and still prefers Vinyl to digital!
Professionally, Steve is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and the Institute for Learning and is a fully qualified trainer (Cert Training Practice) specialising in adult education, qualifying at Huddersfield University. He has a passion for seeing people develop and expand their skills. Steve is also fluent in BSL (British Sign Language) and also holds the QFC Assessor qualification to enable him to provide and assess BTEC level 1 and 2 qualifications to his pupils.
